Brewery sought for Abbotsford office space

June 1, 2021 by Sponsored Post

Property development company Banco Group will establish a brewery in The Office Project, a future-focused office building incorporating coworking spaces soon to get underway in Abbotsford, Melbourne.

It’s the second such project slated by Banco, who is also establishing a microbrewery in the restaurant and entertainment precinct underway at residential and mixed-use retail development, East Brunswick Village.

“We’ve been interested in incorporating breweries into our developments for a long time. We believe in creating mixed-use spaces where people can meet all of their needs, where local production and consumption can occur, and that invite people to interact and build community in an organic way,” Banco Group Director Mario LoGiudice explained.

The Office Project aims to meet the needs of a modern, post-COVID workforce with flexible spaces and options for being social, active, innovative and collaborative.

“The way people work and live is changing; many people don’t work nine to five anymore and many people don’t work in a traditional office environment,” Mr LoGiudice said.

“We’ve observed people wanting to have flexibility in their day. They might spend some time in their workspace, then do some planning on the rooftop, then meet over lunch at the brewery or café.”

The brewery will be located on the ground floor of the sustainability-focused building, alongside a café, gym and bike shop and coworking space. Thirty-six contemporary, light-filled office spaces ranging in size from 24-270sqm will be located on the floors above. Activated rooftops with views to the north and east, private terraces and end of trip facilities are also on offer.

“The brewery will be a truly local venue – open both day and night, serving lunches, dinners and snacks and of course its own craft beer, brewed and bottled onsite,” Mr LoGiudice said.

“We’re seeing more interest in this kind of thing in our community, and we are keen to help build a sustainable future for Australian cities and the people that live in them. We’re really excited about this project.”

The Office Project will be located on the corner of Thompson and Nelson Streets in historic Abbotsford, just a stone’s throw from the Carlton United Breweries (CUB) Building, which has been a local landmark since 1904.

Banco’s strategy is part of a growing trend of major developers investing in breweries as part of their hospitality, retail and residential offerings.

The Office Project is a joint venture between Bernardi Property Group and Banco Group and will be completed in 2023.
